PUPPY TRAINING CLASSES
Veterinarians who specialize in animal behavior say “The primary and most important time for puppy socialization is the first three months of life.” They go on to say “Enrolling in puppy classes prior to three months of age can be an excellent means of improving training, strengthening the human-animal bond, and socializing puppies in an environment where risk of illness can be minimized.” You can read their position statement on puppy socialization here.
Our puppy classes are designed to provide great socialization experiences while teaching you how to teach your puppy. Throughout this 6 week course we’ll discuss your puppy’s upcoming physical and behavioral development. We’ll begin teaching him polite behavior and expose him to other people, puppies and novelty in a safe and positive way. Contact us for the next start date.

Clicker training – imagine the possibilities! What is clicker or “marker” training and why do: zoo-keepers, progressive Guide Dog organizations, various military organizations, sports dog professionals, and dog trainers use it? This dynamic (and fun!) course starts with an orientation for people. We’ll discuss what “marker” training is, why we use it and how dogs learn. We’ll work on some handler mechanics before we start teaching some fun behaviors to your dog during class week 2. We’ll all learn about training together as we train behaviors like impulse control, hand targeting, ringing a bell, teaching the dog to trim his own nails and more. See what some other dogs learned in Clicker Foundations.
